Understanding Your Organization’s Numbers So Funders Hear Your
Thursdays, December 2 & 9 | 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM | Two-Part Web Series

Presented by: Stephanie Cory, Principal, Stephanie Cory Consulting | Jason Jones, Community Development Market Manager (VP), Citizens Bank

Intimidated by balance sheets and income statements? Pulling your hair out over budgets? Stress no more! This two-part webinar series will equip you with the tools you need to understand your nonprofit organization’s finances and present them in ways that speak to funders. Basic accounting concepts will be reviewed, and budget development methods will be discussed. Guiding principles from the Standards for Excellence® will be incorporated throughout the presentation to highlight the importance of ethics and accountability in financial management.

Whether your organization is a small start-up or a larger organization with a dedicated accounting department, this series will give you the confidence you need to talk about your organization’s finances with funders. This interactive web series will allow ample time for specific questions and provide opportunities to practice what is discussed.

At the conclusion of this two-part series, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain basic accounting concepts
  2. Read nonprofit financial statements
  3. Construct a revenue and expense budget for an organization
  4. Orchestrate a clear conversation around finances for their board and funders
  5. Describe the purpose of an audit and determine when one is appropriate for their organization

This option makes the most sense when you have 4-10 individuals interested in viewing the webinar. For fewer than 4 attendees, a single login ticket for each person is the most cost-effective option. For more than 10 attendees, please email Christina at christina@pano.org to discuss options.

Materials (PowerPoint and other handouts), along with instructions on how to login and call-in, will be emailed to attendees a few days prior to the date of the webinar.
