Description

Get Mindful Summer Series
Fridays, July 10-August 14 | 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM | 6-Part Webinar Series

Presented by: Denina Bautti, Founder & Owner, Sage Action Consulting

Offered in Partnership with: Sage Action Consulting

There is a strong connection between meditation (also called mindfulness) and emotional health and well-being. Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment without judgment. Practicing mindfulness helps us face what we are feeling, even when it is not so great, and calm ourselves to feel better. Every time we practice mindfulness, we work our mindfulness “muscle”, which leads to lower levels of stress and anxiety. And it’s no secret that stress and anxiety levels have been higher than usual for many in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Get Mindful Summer Series is an opportunity to dive into mindfulness for 6 weeks. It is ideal for those who have never meditated as well as those who already practice. Each 30-minute session includes a short talk and meditation to provide participants with the opportunity to experience mindfulness, themed around a different “word” to facilitate the practice. There is time towards the end of each session for participants to engage in the practices directly for their own unique experience. Tips and resources are shared each week for continued learning and practice.

In order to fully experience the benefits and essence of this series, participants must register for all six sessions. If you cannot be there for one or more of the scheduled sessions, recordings will be available for you to catch up on what you miss.

To learn a little about mindfulness and “dip a toe in the water” before you dive in, check out Neuroscience is Cool: How Mindfulness Changes the Brain in Awesome Ways, on June 24, 12:00 PM-1:00PM.

Please Note: Each session includes guided meditation/mindfulness practices led by the trainer followed by a short period of independent practice so participants can experience the techniques for themselves. If your space is unable to be set up to eliminate distractions in real time (e.g., close your door), you may want to plan to participate in the recorded session.

Agenda:

Session 1 | July 10 – Presence: Being Here, Now

We often go through daily life pulled into the past or drawn into the future, ignoring the richness of our present moment experience. Breath is a tool that is always with us to anchor our awareness in the present. This session focuses on using our breath as a gateway to presence and includes a breath awareness meditation.

Session 2 | July 17 – Change: Embracing the Opportunity to Grow

Change is hard because it can make us feel uncomfortable and out of control. But change is also an opportunity for growth if we accept it. This session focuses on embracing change as the only constant in life and includes a tree visualization meditation.

Session 3 | July 24 – Kindness: Honoring What Is

Sometimes it is easier to be kind to others than to ourselves. True kindness is embracing the present moment and your feelings toward it with curiosity, openness, acceptance, and love. This session focuses on gentleness and compassion for ourselves and others and includes a loving kindness meditation.

Session 4 | July 31 – Retreat: Stepping Back to Move Forward

Retreat means seeking refuge or finding a place of sanctuary for rest, respite, and rejuvenation. Retreat, or stepping back, is sometimes considered a sign of weakness or laziness. This session focuses on approaching rest as powerful and sacred and includes a body scan/relaxation meditation.

Session 5 | August 7 – Rhythm: Tuning in to Flow

We are beings of rhythm and all living things have their own resonance, rhythm, and flow. But we get stuck planning and preparing, trying to control every outcome instead of trusting the rhythmic ups and downs as simply movement. This session focuses on tuning in to the natural flow of life and includes a listening meditation.

Session 6 | August 14 – Connection: Reaching In, Reaching Out

Connection is essential to life. It is relating to ourselves and others in the most authentic way we can in the world. This session focuses on reaching “in” to our wise inner self so that we can reach “out” to truly connect and includes a poetry/mantra meditation.
