Q&A About H.R. 6201: Families First Coronavirus Response Act
Friday, March 26 | 12:00 PM – 12:45 PM | Webinar

Presented by: Michael J. Torchia, Esq., Semanoff Ormsby Greenberg & Torchia, LLC

Offered in Partnership with: Semanoff Ormsby Greenberg & Torchia, LLC

On March 18, 2020, the President signed H.R. 6201: The Families First Coronavirus Response Act into law. We know you want to know what this law will (or will not) provide for nonprofit organizations of all sizes around Pennsylvania. We have invited Michael J. Torchia, Esq., a Managing Member of Semanoff Ormsby Greenberg & Torchia, LLC, to host a free overview and question and answer session. We have also posted an initial analysis of the bill on our website. We still have questions about the mechanics of how and to whom these dollars will be released, and we want to hear your questions, too, so that we can answer them as information is released.

Questions to be covered include:

  1. Does a general pot of PTO count as paid family leave and sick time pay?
  2. We are currently paying employees exempt and non-exempt the next 2 weeks. If we layoff and employees get unemployment can we help to make employees “whole” legally because many hourly are living paycheck to paycheck?
  3. In addition to unemployment (UE) and the pain of going that route, does anyone have ideas in continuing benefits and still being compliant with the law?
  4. Do you anticipate extensions of current unemployment benefits for those that are already on it and close to expiring?

Feel free to add your own when you register and know that we’ll also take questions as they arise during this web forum.
